LSWMO Seals I-Fitness Gym in Lekki Over Alleged Untreated Sewage Discharge
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off I-Fitness Gym located at Jakande Roundabout in Lekki Peninsula, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, over the alleged discharge of untreated sewage into public drainage channels.
According to the agency, the enforcement action was taken after investigations revealed that raw sewage was being discharged through pipes directly into public drains.
The LSWMO described the practice as a violation of environmental regulations and a serious threat to public health and safety.
The agency stated that the illegal discharge contributed to environmental pollution, created public nuisance, and exposed residents and visitors in the area to potential health hazards.
Reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office emphasized that proper wastewater management remains a key priority of the Lagos State Government.
The agency urged residents, businesses, and organizations across the state to comply with approved wastewater disposal standards, warning that violators risk sanctions and prosecution under existing environmental laws.
LSWMO further noted that indiscriminate disposal of sewage into drains, canals, and public spaces undermines efforts to maintain a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment in Lagos.
The office assured residents that monitoring and enforcement operations would continue across the state to curb environmental violations and safeguard public health.
Business Compliance Remains Critical for Commercial Operators
